SOS (sensory Oral Sequential) approach to feeding therapy

.
The SOS Approach focuses on increasing a child’s comfort level by exploring and learning about the different properties of food. It integrates sensory, motor, oral, behavior, medical and nutritional approaches in order to comprehensively manage feeding difficulties. A developmental sequence of feeding is used to create a systemic desensitization hierarchy to tolerate and eat various textures. In this approach we interact with food in a playful, non-stressful way, beginning with the ability to tolerate the food in the room and in front of the child; then moving on to touching and eventually tasting and eating foods.
