 Our activities will take place in our indoor an outdoor spaces. Our groups have a small adult to child ratio. All are led by a licensed occupational therapist, speech therapist or special eduation teacher. Each session includes parent feedback.

Social and Strong

Ages: 7-9 years old

Days: Tuesdays  2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14

Time: 4:30-5:30

Through the use of various curriculum materials, games and movement activities this group will enjoy time with friends in fresh and fun ways. Social skills, receptive and expressive language will be functionally practiced under the guidance of a speech language pathologist and special education professional. Parents will be given follow up activitis to practice across various environments.

Ages: 9-11

Days: Tuesdays  2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14

This group will build social skills and confidence through specialized instruction by a speech language pathologist and special education professional. Sessions will be fun, lively and interactive through the use of various resources, games and curriculum materials.  Parents will be given follow up activities to practice across various environments. 

Feeding Therapy Group – PreK-K - 2 openings left

Working with peers in a group for feeding therapy encourages a greater willingness to try a variety of foods. Using touch and sensory activities contributes to our fun interactive time with the added benefit of health eating. We believe that around a table with other children and adults group, a foundation for comfortable mealtime can be expanded into in other environments/ Information and activity ideas will be provided to parents to help with follow through at home.

Days: Fridays 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 2/9

Time: 1:00-2:30

Cost: $300 for all sessions  (includes grocery fee)

Welcome to Summer at PossAbilities CTG! As always, we are looking forward to all that summer offers! At this time we are gathering information and making plans for our groups. Our tentative groups are listed below. Please let us know by completing the THERAPY GROUP INQUIRY FORM if you are interested in any of the groups. The dates, times and costs will be announced according to the information received. By completing the form, you will be placed on list (first come first served basis). Please make sure you have indicated whether you are wanting the Merriam or Lee’s Summit location.

Merriam - possible summer groups

SensAble and PossAble:  Come join the fun while we explore sensory activities indoors and outdoors while learning strategies and tools to promote self-regulation, motor skills, and emotional control.  Children will enjoy a variety of projects that will encourage carry-over of the strategies at home. 

Ages: 6-9 years

Handwriting Helper:  This group makes writing fun!  If your child struggles with writing neatly with accurate letter formation or has poor legibility, this group can help them build confidence, build fundamental skills, and learn activities to continue the progress at home.  The Handwriting Without Tears program will be utilized. 

Ages: 6-8 years

Cooking Club:  Do you have a picky eater?  This group will focus on the FUN of cooking and exploring food in a low-pressure small group environment.  Your child will engage in sensory experiences designed to encourage trying new foods. 

Ages 4-5 and 6-8

Social Animals:  Through the use of engaging, fun activities, children who experience difficulties with social, pragmatic, and expressive language skills can build essential social skills.  Skills such as social greetings and awareness of others (e.g., eye contact, perspective) as well as how to interact with peers (e.g., how to join in play) among other skills will be practiced in this group.

Ages: 4-5

7 Habits Boot Camp:  This fun group will focus on one of Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Happy Kids each week.  The lessons help build skills in independence, cooperation, goal setting, thinking of others, listening and more!  These skills help children more effectively interact with peers and build confidence.

Ages 8-11 

Lee’s summit - Possible summer groups

Nature Therapy This group will provide opportunities to explore sensory activities outdoors and indoors while focusing on new abilities for self-regulation. social and motor skills.   We will make projects that will allow for further nature interaction at home.  

Ages 4-6 years

Leisure skills Parents have asked about alternatives to screen time. In this group we will explore a wide variety of new interests to expand play and leisure skills.   Every session’s activities will be very different. Together we will challenge executive functioning skills as we plan for the next session. A few activities will include - simple cooking projects, water play, building with loose parts, nature based crafts,
